Ivey completed construction on the fast-track Kings Daughter’s Hospital project in April 1999. After removing all existing central plant mechanical equipment, Ivey installed two new 290-ton chillers, two cooling towers, eight pumps, two 200-hp steam boilers, four air-units, forty-two VAV boxes, one tri-plex medical air compressor, and a vacuum pump all within a ten-month construction schedule. All life support systems, as well as comfort systems, had to be maintained during the entire construction period, which required Ivey personnel to be available 24-hours per day during change out of the equipment. Owner: Koch Foods / General Contractor: Prime Contract / Contract Amount: $3,800,000

Koch Foods is a supplier of fresh and frozen poultry products for food service and retail operators. This new 154,000 square foot processing facility will produce and ship an estimated 64,000 pounds of product per day while improving economical and logistical requirements for the region. The mechanical contract on this project included the installation of the materials and equipment for the plumbing, HVAC, and process piping required for the process systems in this state-of-the-art facility. The majority of the process piping was installed 28 feet above the floor. Ivey installed 4,000 linear feet of undergroudn sanitary sewer piping that connects the maze of trench drain systems in the process area in just four weeks. In the basement Ivey installed one 243,000 cfm air handling unit, two 150 hp chilled water pumps, two 40 hp heating water pumps, two steam to hot water converters, sanitary and storm sewer piping, domestic water piping, medical gas systems, HVAC piping, 538 VAV boxes and 420,000 pounds of HVAC ductwork. In the Central Plant addition Ivey installed one 1250 ton chiller, one 1500 ton cooling tower, three 150 hp condenser water pumps, two 100 hp chilled water pumps and 1700 linear feet of 12" and 16" interconnection piping. This manufacturing facility produces food grade plastic bottles for the Coca-Cola Company. The scope of this project was to expand the Injection & Blow Molding Process Line and included two injection process lines consisting of injection presses, robots, molds, and resin drying equipment weighing over 100 tons, requiring extensive concrete foundation reinforcement along with eight tons of fabricated structural steel mezzanines. The blow molding line also required foundation upgrades to support the molding wheel, oven and control enclosure, which weighed 30 tons. Upgrades included a new chiller; dehumidification unit; three air-handling units; two 15-ton air compressors; 5,000 linear feet of piping, ductwork, and steel platforms. Owner: Tougaloo College / General Contractor: White Construction Company - Ridgeland, Mississippi / Contract Amount: $339,000
Ivey’s renovation contract on a building that had been condemned, involved adding heating and cooling, while maintaining its historical aspects. None of the ductwork could be in the chapel area. It was all run underneath the floor in an area that was a mud slab. The chilled water and heating water system has a pre-treatment unit which supplies outside air to all of the other air units in order to control humidity. A 30 horsepower boiler and 40 tons of cooling equipment were installed to service the 7,500 square foot chapel and 3,000 square-foot conference area. Because space was crucial, a great deal of coordination was required to allow for all of the trades involved to complete their work. Ivey completed 5,747 man-hours with no lost-time accidents recorded. Owner: Raytheon Systems Company / General Contractor: Evan Johnson & Sons Construction / Contract Amount: $2,050,000
